So beauty for beauty’s sake is a thing in nature, yet science also tells us that there are certain biologically-driven standards. Facial symmetry, for example, is something humans are wired to find attractive. And so, in an Ipsos Global Advisor poll, we see remarkable consistency in physical definitions of beauty across nations and cultures.

Matt Carmichael is a demographics expert, author, speaker and data-driven journalist who analyzes and reports on the changing population of the U.S. and its impact on everything from marketing, to product development to urban planning and transit. He leads Ipsos’ content and editorial strategy for the North American region. He has been awarded top honors for content, design and innovative uses of technology.
